Virtually all Manchester United fans, myself included, would like to see the Paul Pogba saga end, ideally in United’s favour and before the new season commences in 11 days time. If you believe British media outlet The Express, that could be the case as according to their report, Paul Pogba will fly to Manchester this week to undergo his medical before signing a contract that will see him earn as much as £275,000-a-week.
The Pogba to United saga has been the biggest story for all major newspapers in the UK, Italy and France in the last few weeks, and given the reported transfer fee in excess of £100m, with good reason. Manchester United are said to be the firm favorites for the signature our former youth team player four years after he left the club in 2012.
Although reports claim that Real Madrid are interested in signing the Juventus player, it’s United who have been in talks with the Bianconeri this summer, along with the player and his agent Mino Raiola. The transfer is likely to smash the world record as reports suggest United could be paying as much as £112m to Juventus for the 23-year-old.
Paul Pogba recently got Manchester United fans buzzing on social media when he posted the picture of himself on Twitter on a plane, with the caption “thinking about football”.
Many United fans took that as the player setting off to Manchester for his medical and contract signing, but it was later revealed Pogba was merely on a plane heading to New York for the final part of his holiday.
The Express claims Manchester United hope they can complete the deal in the coming days, although given the Frenchman has not trained since France’s defeat to Portugal in the Euro 2016 final, he would likely not feature in a red shirt until United’s opening Premier League fixture against Bournemouth in 13 days time.
