The decision to let Adnan Januzaj leave Manchester United on loan was one that baffled most United fans. After a frustrating time in Germany with Borussia Dortmund where he made only 11 appearances in all competitions scoring 0 goals Adnan Januzaj is back at Old Trafford.
The young Belgian will be hoping to impress Louis van Gaal more than his manager at Dortmund Thomas Tuchel.
Januzaj impressed during the early weeks of the season for United with it looking like he was set to cement himself in van Gaal’s plans after he scored a fine goal against Aston Villa.
With the attacking options at Old Trafford limited the return of the exciting Januzaj who was chosen to inherit Ryan Giggs’ famous number 11 shirt following the Welshman’s retirement will give Louis van Gaal another option in the final third. The return of Januzaj will hopefully improve the performances of the players who currently occupy with wide positions Memphis and Mata with fan favourite Januzaj a player who has always been able to excite the United fans.
Of course it remains to be seen whether Louis van Gaal will bring Januzaj back into the first team picture straight away after allowing him to leave therefore leaving himself with a ridiculous lack of forward options. What is clear is that United need more in the forward positions so the return of Januzaj strengthens van Gaal’s hand and gives him something else to chose from and to put his underperforming wide players under pressure to stay in the team.
