Every Monday United’s midfield magician Juan Mata posts to his blog to shed light on the weekend’s result, praise his team mates and state how it’ll be more of the same next week – but not this time around.
As United slump to third in the table, falling from top spot, Juan Mata took his time to apologise to the fans after the embarrassing three-nil outing at the Emirates.
Less than 24 hours after the defeat, Mata took to social media to share his blog post, which gave his thoughts on the performance in North London.
“It’s not easy to write today and to find words of encouragement after a game like this, but we have to carry on.
“As you could see, everything went wrong in the first half, Arsenal started with more intensity.”
Mata continued to share his disappointment in the lengthy article, describing the opening phases of the game as “unacceptable” from a United perspective.
“If we want to fight for big things we must learn the lesson as soon as possible, the only thing I can say is that we shouldn’t play a game like this again.
From [Arsenal’s third goal] we tried to stop them but we didn’t create chances, only a good one from Anthony right before half time.”
The game was lost in the first 20 minutes, in what the Spaniard called a “horrible start.”
There is now a two week break before United face Everton away from home, as the players jet off for international duty in order to qualify for the European Championships.
Mata will be part of the Spain team that will face Luxembourg followed by Ukraine, before he returns to Manchester with his United cohort to prepare for the trip to Goodison.
