Manchester United fans will get the chance to see their former iconic manager Sir Alex Ferguson in the Old Trafford dugout out again, as he is set to manage a Great Britain and Ireland XI captained by club legend David Beckham.
The pair will return to the Theatre of Dreams for a charity match against a World XI side led by Zinedine Zidane and managed by former Real Madrid and Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti. The game will raise awareness and funds for UNICEF.
The former No 7 revealed that he called the 73-year-old to ask him personally to take part.
‘’This match gives me the perfect opportunity to raise awareness and vital funds to help reach the children who need it most.’’ Beckham was quoted by ManUtd.com.
‘’I am delighted that my friend Zizou will join me in leading two teams, full of our friends and team-mates, at the best stadium in the world.”
Beckham has been a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for ten years, and has been involved in several campaigns to raise awareness and finds for children in need across the world.
