Manchester United keeping close eye on 18-Year-Old Netherlands defender

Reports surfacing this morning are suggesting that Manchester United are keeping an eye on young Heerenveen defender Jerry St. Juste, after spotting him while scouting PSV Eindhoven before their Champions League tie.

The teenager only made his debut for the club in a 4-1 win over Vitesse Arnhem at the beginning of the year.

St. Juste, who can play as a centre back or a defensive midfielder, has been compared to the likes of Tottenham’s Eric Dier.

His recent form has seen him become a mainstay in Heerenveen’s defence, playing every minute of Eredivisie football this year.

Averaging 3.8 clearances and just under two tackles per game, he certainly looks to be a promising talent.

The signing would reinforce Louis van Gaal’s previous statements of signing players for the next Manchester United manager, who he reckons will be Ryan Giggs.

With Chris Smalling, Marcos Rojo and Paddy McNair, and Phil Jones now coming back from illness, a space in the side looks unlikely for St. Juste, but he could make a promising addition to United’s already successful youth teams.
