Luke Shaw landed into Manchester airport at 10:50am on Saturday morning after flying from Eindhoven via private jet after being given the all clear to fly back by hospital staff.
Shaw, 20, who suffered a double leg fracture in Manchester United’s 2-1 defeat to PSV Eindhoven last Tuesday evening, has been in Eindhoven ever since. Immediately after the incident had happened, Shaw was to go under the knife to straighten and pin the bones back together. The left-back was then due to have another operation on Friday morning but Louis van Gaal confirmed on Friday that he will indeed have this back in Manchester over the weekend, before hopefully returning to his home on Tuesday.
Louis van Gaal speaking at his press conference on Friday said:
“The pressure was high and that is why the immediate operation was needed and because of the opening of the leg, you need to close it also.
“It was a typical minor operation. It could not be done today, so we have to do it here in Manchester. Now that the pressure is low, he can fly back.
“That is the latest information I know. He is going to a private clinic in Manchester and, if it is alright, then he will go home on Tuesday. It depends on how the injury develops.”
Luke Shaw is clearly more than happy to be leaving Eindhoven and heading back to Manchester, check out his Instagram post thanking hospital staff.
