Predicted Manchester United XI: vs Southampton – Rooney Starts, Martial Dropped

After Louis van Gaal revealed on Friday afternoon that Wayne Rooney is back in the Manchester United squad to travel down to Southampton, we take a look at what first-team the club will put out to face the saints in this Sunday’s 4pm BST kick-off.

Goalkeeper: David De Gea > Not much more to say in regards to that choice, United’s number one.

Defence: Going into this weekends Manchester United defence, United Ramble have gone for Daley Blind on the left-hand side taking the place of Luke Shaw after he suffered a double leg fracture against PSV on Tuesday night, with Marcos Rojo slotting into the middle alongside the inform Chris Smalling. One of the signings of the summer Mattero Darmian keeps his place at right-back.

Midfield: Moving into Manchester United’s midfield, United Ramble have gone for Morgan Schneiderlin and Bastian Schweinsteiger starting next to each other slightly deeper than Ander Herrera, with Michael Carrick to miss out the start of this match.

Scorer of Tuesday nights goal Memphis Depay will keep his place on the left hand side, with Juan Mata on the other side.

Attack: As previously mentioned, Wayne Rooney is back and will no doubt come straight into the first-team, leaving Anthony Martial starting on the bench. Super sub again this weekend?
