Manchester United will face up against Cambridge United in the F.A Cup. Every United fan is hoping for a Cup run, it would be nice not to finish the season trophyless. There are a few things we can expect.
- Stubborn Van Gaal to Stick with 3-5-2
On Saturday at Loftus Road, the fans called for a change in the system to the traditional 4-4-2. While the manager did change the system in the second half, in his post-match interview he attributed his insistence on playing 3-5-2 as a necessity to have more “balance” in the team. That opinion is unlikely to change.
- James Wilson to Get a Starting Berth.
There is something exciting about Wilson every time you watch him play. He can outpace defenders, is not scared to run at people and one heck of a left foot. Last time out he was unlucky not to get two assists when he provided Falcao with the chances to score. The youngster should start and hopefully another bright youngster in Adnan Januzaj will get an opportunity.
- Valdes to Debut
Admit it, you flinched every time De Gea seemed like he might have been injured. Well, that could be partly because we have been lacking a quality No. 2 to replace him. With the arrival of Victor Valdes, an experienced winner with pedigree, De Gea now has an able deputy. Despite having been injured for the last 10 months, Valdes should be able to handle his first match in English football.
- Players Playing in their Natural Positions
Young has performed well in the left back position, Carrick bosses the Centre back position like he does, well, everything and Rooney finally met a manager that is not afraid to play him in central midfield. But what about Angel Di Maria? In arguably his best season, Di Maria played in central midfield last season. His greatest moments were when he was driving the ball from deep and supplying the forwards. Van Gaal has played him as a striker in recent matches. In the game against QPR, he was largely absent in the first half (to be fair almost everyone was). But he was able to get into the game a bit when he dropped back in the second half. Maybe that’s one experiment the tinker man can accept won’t work?
