On Friday evening Manchester United kick off their forth round of the FA Cup at Cambridge United’s Abbey Stadium.
It’s been over a decade since we last won the FA Cup, beating Millwall 3-0. Like all United fans I am hopeful of a cup run which would see us end our season with a trip to Wembley Stadium.
If the first round tie against Yeovil Town is anything to go by we can expect a very strong starting line up. David de Gea has certainly been our player of the season so far, although it would be nice to give him a break so we can see what Victor Valdes can do.
I’m sure that are all agreed that we would like to see a return to a back four. Rafael to return to right back with Luke Shaw taking up the role on the opposite side of the pitch. Central defence is likely to be occupied by two of three and I would like to see Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo take up those positions.
Predicting what Louis Van Gaal will do is not easy, I would like to see a midfield of Michael Carrick at the back of a diamond, with Ander Herrera and Angel Di Maria either side of him, leaving Wayne Rooney at the top.
James Wilson has looked dangerous and with his and Falcao‘s movement up front Cambridge United won’t know what hit them!
This is certainly a team which should be able to cope with the early Cambridge pressure and then finish the game comfortably on top, booking a place in the fourth round for United.
