Monday’s FA Cup fourth round draw has seen United drawn as the away side against Cambridge United.
Cambridge, the lowest ranked team remaining in the competition, currently sit 14th place in League Two, five points above the drop zone. The fourth tier side are without a win in four league games with just one win in their last six.
On paper then, a favourable draw for the eleven-time winners with 79 places separating the two sides in the football league. With the Abbey Stadium holding a maximum crowd of 9,617 spectators, we will likely see another FA Cup sellout that sees United travel to a lower league side, following their 2-0 away win at Yeovil Town.
Favourable draws for Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool – who will all face opponents outside of the top flight -mean that there is every possibility of United facing a top Premier League side in the next round, should they progress.
The fourth round ties will be played on January 24th and 25th.
