It has been well documented over the past few days that Louis van Gaal is likely to put together a ring of changes in the Manchester United starting XI against Yeovil Town in the FA Cup on Sunday, as the squad recover from the busy festive period, taking it’s toll on some of the players fitness.
With the above in mind going into the Budweiser FA Cup weekend, the United Ramble team predict Louis van Gaal’s starting XI against Yeovil, with youth and experience both being added to the side.
Man of the season thus far for United, has to be David De Gea, and with the tie being against a lower league side, we predict that the boss might be of mind to give De Gea the weekend off, a much needed rest with Anders Lindegaard coming into the squad and starting, with Ben Amos back up on the bench.
Into the defence, Rafael and Luke Shaw would be likely starters on either side, both needing game time to get back into the rhythm after recovering from injuries. In the centre of a back four, we’ve gone with Tyler Blackett and Chris Smalling.
Moving into midfield, despite having a shocker of a few weeks when playing, we think that Louis van Gaal will entrust the experience of Darren Fletcher in such a fixture, holding up the middle of the park alongside Ander Herrera who is in need of some game-time after recovering from injury.
The wings in this 4-4-2 are one’s that need to be though about, with Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia both out of action for the start of the year. Angel Di Maria might be started to get him some match fitness, which Louis van Gaal likes to do to players that are recovering, with no reserve action then this fixture would be great for Di Maria. On the other side of the park, we’ve gone for Adnan Januzaj, who is also in need of match time, with rumours that the youngster could be loaned out this transfer window.
Up top for Manchester United, James Wilson would thrive in the FA Cup, with speed and determination, we predict this is going to be a good weekend for the youngster. Wilson’s partner up front, we’ve gone for Robin van Persie, getting 60-minutes before being replaced by Radamel Falcao.
