It is a new year, and a year in which Louis van Gaal has stated that Manchester United will just keep getting better and better. There is no better way to start the new year off, than three-points, hopefully achievable at the Britannia Stadium as the red devils take on the potters of Stoke City, kicking off at 12:45pm GMT.
During his weekly press conference, Louis van Gaal confirmed that Ander Herrera is back in training and ready for a squad selection, despite the lack of match fitness, United Ramble predict that Herrera will start in the middle of the park, getting at least 60-minutes under his belt against Stoke City. Herrera adds composure to the midfield, especially alongside the in form Michael Carrick who we predict will start, slightly deeper than Herrera, with Wayne Rooney pushing forward in the middle of the park.
The boss had previously kept the same starting XI and formation for matches against Newcastle and Tottenham, despite our predicted changes we still foresee the 3-5-2 formation.
Looking at the forward line, with Wayne Rooney predicted to start in the midfield. Radamel Falcao will be likely to start on the bench after playing the two previous matches, with James Wilson stepping in to add pace and take his chance up top alongside the returning to form Robin van Persie.
Now, looking on the wings, Louis van Gaal has been going with Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia of late, adding pace to the wings. But, against Stoke City we predict that Luke Shaw and Rafael Da Silva will start in those positions with Valencia and Young on the bench.
This week at the back, we’ve gone for a strong back three of Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Jonny Evans.
Everywhere you go, always take De Gea with you, of course, keeps his place in net.
