United midfielder sidelined with a broken rib

Manchester United’s Marouane Fellaini will miss the year, and more than likely New Years Day fixture against Stoke City after being sidelined with a broken rib suffered in training.

Louis van Gaal had previously commented that Marouane Fellaini was missing due to illness, but the Telegraph have today revealed that the Belgian midfielder has been absent for the Aston Villa and Newcastle match due to a broken rib, while training at Carrington.

It is understood that the 27-year-old is nursing the broken rib after training, after his first-team appearance against Liverpool in the 3-0 victory at Old Trafford two-weeks ago.

Manchester United are also missing Angel Di Maria, who is a doubt for this Sunday’s fixture against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane.
