Radamel Falcao scored his second goal for Manchester United at Villa Park and Jonny Evans hopes that he can now continue on the same path and lead the club back into the Champions League next season.
The Colombian scored his first goal for United against Everton and his latest goal against Villa helped Louis van Gaal’s men to earn a draw against a resolute Villa side who defended well even after going down to ten men.
“It was a good header,” said the defender. “He has that predator instinct. If you look at his record it’s headers and one-touch finishes.”
“He has great movement. He did very well, got his goal, and that suits him perfectly – crosses in the box.”
Evans admitted that United should have won the game against Villa after they went down to ten men but wants to end the year on a high by picking up maximum points in the next 3 games against Newcastle, Tottenham and Stoke City.
Evans said: “We had possession, but never really created chances apart from the goal. When they went down to 10 we thought we’d create more but it wasn’t to be.”
“We should have gone on to win after they’d gone down to 10 and we had the goal early in the second half. But it is a busy period and we have to keep that run of not losing going.”
“We have the experience from the Champions League and Christmases before.”
“It tests the squad, but everyone gets playing time and it’s great to be involved.”
