It was a name that was on every Manchester United fans lips two-years ago during the transfer window, and one that seemed to have cropped again this summer, but now Wesley Sneijder has admitted that he is flattered to be linked with a move to Manchester United under Louis van Gaal, but that he will not leave Galatasaray, putting end to any speculation on him joining United in January.
Sneijder had a good experience under Louis van Gaal while the new United boss was manager of the Netherlands national side, however, with Manchester United boasting a number of midfield options after buying big in the summer, Sneijder has said that he would not be tempted to leave AS Galatasaray.
“It is great to hear that Van Gaal is interested in me, he is a footballing genius
“However I doubt Manchester United could tempt me to leave Galatasaray right now, I don’t see it happening. Everything is going well for me in Istanbul and I have settled into life in Turkey and feel at home.
“I don’t even know why we keep talking about this. Galatasaray will not be letting me go for a cheap price. It is very unlikely that any deal will happen.”
