Tom Cleverley move to Villa delayed due to wage demands

Tom Cleverley’s move to Aston Villa from Manchester United could be close to colapsing due to the midfielders wage demands, reportedly demanding a wage packet of £60,000-a-week to move down to Villa Park.

Paul Lambert has had fears over the weekend that the deal could well be over as talks continue in regards to the wages, but both clubs are hoping that personal terms can been agreed for Cleverley to move down the M6 on Monday.

Tom Cleverley is surplus to requirements by Louis van Gaal and Manchester United, and after last seasons poor form much was made about a move away from Old Trafford. A move to Aston Villa is exactly what Cleverley needs, playing the centre of midfield at a team that is at his standard, we think that he will do well.

Paul Lambert said on Sunday night: “He’s still a Manchester United player and nothing has moved forward on that one at the moment.”

The transfer is set to be completed today, but Cleverley will have to take a pay cut. He is currently on £75,000-a-week at Manchester United.
