Paul Scholes criticism of United new boy Daley Blind?

Fans around the world were overjoyed when Van Gaal broke the news to the world about Daley Blind moving to Manchester United except one, Paul Scholes. Legendary Scholes has branded Blind as not being physical enough for the premier league. His perception of Blind is wrong.

Daley Blind played at the World Cup and all would have seen his amazing performances for the Dutch National team. His long ball to Van Persie which RVP converted into an assist was the highlight of his World Cup campaign. From then on he has been scouted by all the leading clubs in the world.

Scholes said : “I don’t think he is strong enough for a left-back in England“.

Daley Blind played in Brazil against many attacking teams. Teams like Chile, Australia and Brazil use their physical strength to create space and to move the ball. And in those conditions he played at left wing back and excelled admirably. He is not afraid to take the ball in difficult situations and is not scared to put in a tackle. All these attributes are fundamentals for playing in the premier league. And he possesses them all.

Scholes said : “And the only place we can seem to get him into the team in central midfield. He’s a very good footballer but is he the answer?

For this we all should go back in time to last season’s Champions League group stage match between Ajax and Barcelona. Blind played in the defensive midfield position and absolutely ruled the midfield. He combined with his fellow center backs and stopped every attack the Catalans could manage. He is exactly the answer we are looking for. Playing Di Maria in midfield is a bad decision but now with Blind we can play him and Herrera at the center of midfield in what could potentially be a dream midfield duo.

All said, a legend like Scholes has played in the premier league and his views are more often correct than not. But this time I am convinced he is wrong about Daley Blind. He is a strong, physical and versatile player who could fill in 3 positions for United and he could very well come in handy at situations where many players are injured. And for me, he is the answer.
