The youth of Manchester United is one that has such a fantastic reputation, and it is one that is set to continue with the likes of striker James Wilson in our squads. Towards the end of last week, Wilson picked up a knock that kept him out of the under-21s match against Norwich City.
Wilson’s injury seemingly was not that serious as he returned to Carrington on Monday to start training for the season ahead once again, but this time Louis van Gaal has made sure that he is training alongside the first-team.
The difference between first-team and under-21s training sessions at Carrington is huge. The pace, fitness levels and ball work during first-team sessions under Louis van Gaal are by far at a different level to those that Warren Joyce puts the under-21s through. This is fantastic for James Wilson who is knocking on the first-team door for a start in the league or cup.
All going well James Wilson will travel to Sunderland on Sunday, maybe even find himself on the bench when the squad is announced. With the return of Robin van Persie, he will be likely to start up top with Wayne Rooney.
Louis van Gaal has a history of giving youth a chance at all his previous clubs, hopefully on Tuesday night against MK Dons away, James Wilson will get his chance to shine. There are many Manchester United fans around the World that are more than excited to see the progress of Wilson, the player who smashed four goals past Manchester City in the MSC final.
