He was the scapegoat of the 2013/14 season, admittedly his form was poor, but now could Tom Cleverley be set to shine under new Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal? Cleverley himself is hopeful that a bounce-back season is ahead of United, who look to start their campaign off to winning ways against Swansea City on Saturday.
Tom Cleverley missed out on a place in England’s World Cup over in Brazil due to his previous form last term, form that the midfielder hopes is well behind him after a promising pre-season with Manchester United over in the US. Speaking with manutd.com, the 25-year-old the following in regards to Louis van Gaal’s style of play:
“It’s very much pass and move, always asking for the ball, which is my game.
“And the manager is so clear that there can be no questions asked from our point of view. We know exactly what he wants and are confident that if we do what he wants on the pitch, we’ll win.”
It seems that all the Manchester United squad are loving life under Louis van Gaal, let’s hope that players including Tom Cleverley can gain their confidence back and push on for a successful season.
