After a promising pre-season before picking up an injury, it seemed that Danny Welbeck would have a good future ahead of him at Manchester United under Louis van Gaal. But, the latest rumours to come out of the Mirror on Friday, state that Hull City are preparing a £14million bid for the United striker, that is not a typo, £14million for Danny Welbeck.
If the move does go ahead, then it will break Hull City’s transfer record.
Hull are looking to replenish their strike force, after Shane Long is set to to move to Southampton, just 6 months after joining Hull. The former West Brom striker moved to the KC Stadium for £7.5million back in January, but looks set to leave the club destined for Southampton for £12million this summer.
With that money to hand, Hull City are set to put it all in the Danny Welbeck basket, in a move that might not be ruled out by the player himself, being behind Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney in the pecking order for a first team place at Manchester United.
A move to Hull City would see Welbeck play every week in the Premier League. Another factor that might stop this move from happening though is Welbeck’s wages, he is currently on £65,000-a-week at Manchester United and very doubtful that he will want to take a pay cut.
