TRANSFERS: Manchester United bid £16million for Sporting Lisbon defender

Manchester United have filed an official €20million (£15.9million) bid for Sporting Lisbon defender Marcos Rojo, according to O Jago.

Reports claim that Marcos Rojo refused to play for Sporting Lisbon over the weekend in a friendly against Nacional, fuelling the fire that he is set for a departure, with the Premier League his preferred destination.

Over the past week, Liverpool and Arsenal have also been interested in the 24-year-old, seemingly Manchester United have made their move first by submitting an official bid.

Marcos Rojo had an impressive campaign with Argentina in the World Cup over in Brazil, pushing his case as one of the worlds best at the back.

Rojo is very confident at the back, who also combines a genuine attacking threat going forward, perfect for Manchester United as they look to rebuild under Louis van Gaal.

Do you think Rojo will be a good signing for Louis van Gaal at Manchester United?
