Staff at the Old Trafford megastore have alerted fans to the prospect of Adnan Januzaj changing shirt numbers for the new season.
Fans have been advised not to buy shirts sporting Januzaj’s name and the number 44 on the back, fuelling speculation that the youngster will be handed either the number 7 or 11 for 2014/15.
And with the change imminent, it could mean that Januzaj has a big part to play in Louis Van Gaal’s first season with the 20 times champions of England.
Fans were treated to flashes of supreme skill and technique from the Belgian last season and if Januzaj, 19, is indeed handed one of United’s most iconic shirt numbers it would bring about a certain amount of pressure.
How Januzaj deals with the pressure will be intriguing, to say the least. Januzaj is arguably one of the finest players to break into the first team since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009, and if he can handle the mental pressure of being United’s new poster boy as easily as he beats a Premier League full-back then United fans will be excited to see just what the young star is capable of.
How do you think Januzaj will deal with wearing the number of some of the United greats of the past?
