Patrice Evra admits that Louis van Gaal was sorry to see him leave Manchester United

He was an absolutely fantastic servant for Manchester United during his time at the club, and now Patrice Evra, after being unveiled over in Italy as Juventus’ latest signing, that new Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal wanted him to stay and was sorry to see him leave.

Patrice Evra spent eight fantastic years at Manchester United, but this summer felt that his future was away from Old Trafford, signing a two-year contract with the Italian champions Juventus even after putting pen to paper on a contract extension with United back in May.

The French left-back, talking to reporters in Turin said he left Manchester United for “personal reasons”, and claims that Louis van Gaal was “sorry” to see him leave.

Evra said:

“It was really difficult to leave Manchester United, it was for personal reasons,

“Three months before the end of the season I asked to speak to other clubs and when I knew Juventus were interested it was an easy decision, but the most difficult thing was to leave Manchester United.

“Manchester had great confidence in me. I spoke to Van Gaal, who was sorry to see me go, but I wanted to come to Juventus.”
