MATCH REPORT: Manchester United 2-2 CSKA Moscow

It has been a good night for Manchester United’s youngsters, after a 2-2 draw over in Northern Ireland against CSKA Moscow see’s them through to the Premier Section of the Dale Farm Milk Cup.

Manchester United Squad vs CSKA Moscow: Henderson; Williams, Borthwick-Jackson, Tuanzabe; Mitchell, Scott, Gribbin, Dearnley, Borg; Rashford (Warren).

The Milk Cup clash for the Under-17s against CSKA Moscow was a physical affair, with the Russian side taking this lead early in the first half, slotting the ball home past Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

Manchester United levelled the scoreline with a poachers finish from young Callum Gribbin, who was on the ball to score after the Russian keeper had fumbled a shot from United’s Dernley. 1-1.

Paul McGuinness’ under-17s have had a fantastic Milk Cup tournament so far, none more so than Rashford who was to score United’s goal to send them 2-1 up, a magical curling shot finding the top right-hand corner. Making sure he found the net with his third goal in three matches.

The second half was a quiet affair, with CSKA Moscow equalising after the referee ordered a free-kick 25 yards out, to be driving in, and after a fumble in the six-yard-area, the Russian side found the back of the net to make it 2-2.

Manchester United are now through to the semi-finals of the Dale Farm Milk Cup, they will play Partick Thistle on Thursday evening.
