Manchester United have got off to a fantastic start to their pre-season campaign over in the United States of America. Firstly smashing seven goals past MLS outfit LA Galaxy, to then beat a strong AS Roma side 3-2 over in Denver.

Wayne Rooney scored twice in Manchester United’s 3-2 victory over AS Roma, firstly a fantastic 20-yard-strike that found it’s way into the top corner, then a penalty late in the first half after Juan Mata had scored a fantastic lob over the AS Roma keeper.

There were a ring of changes at half-time, including Wayne Rooney. But, despite only playing 45-minutes, the journalists that had the vote inside the stadium all pointed their selection to Wayne Rooney who had 75% of the votes.

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal had this to say on Wayne Roney’s fantastic cross field pass to set up Juan Mata for hi goal to make it 2-0: “The pass from Rooney to Mata was unbelievable, despite the heat and the height. Mata was running with his brain at the right moment.”
