What a fantastic week it has been for all those involved at Manchester United, buying two fantastic players and off-loading ’14 times man-of-the-match’ winner Alexander Buttner.
The addition of Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera to the squad is a huge improvement to Ed Woodward’s CV, rather than the embarrassment that was last summers farce, ending up with only managing to get the paper work done in time for Marouane Fellaini.
Luke Shaw was the one transfer that had been rumoured since back in April, where David Moyes put down some foundations in bringing the 18-year-old to Old Trafford, one that was done and dusted on Friday afternoon in a move that was rumoured to be over £30million, in fact it was revealed on Saturday that Manchester United payed £27million up front for Luke Shaw, with a £1million add-on for appearances. A fee that many say is a lot to pay for an 18-year-old, but writer Jamie Reynolds pens how this is an investment for Manchester United.
The one out going from Manchester Untied this week was Alexander Buttner, the left-back moves to Dymano Moscow, which has been revealed that United will received £4million up front, the same amout Manchester United paid for Buttner back in 2012, then rising to £5.6million as add-ons. Thus, Ed Woodward has managed to make a profit on Alexander Buttner.
Let’s hope this is not the end of Manchester United’s activities this summer, with pending incomings to come before the exodus of players, such as Tom Cleverley happens.
