Manchester United’s attempts to sign Ander Herrera last season was comical if anything and summed up the first transfer window under David Moyes and Ed Woodward. It seemed that United had dropped their interest in the 24 year old Athletic Bilbao midfielder after no further attempts to sign the player were made in the January transfer window. Ander is a player with brilliant technique and bundles of energy. Although the Midfielder had a poor start to the 2013/2014 season he gradually picked up his form as the season went on and helped Bilbao ensure Champions League qualification, finishing the season with 5 goals and 5 assists.
Today multiple Spanish news outlets are reporting that Ander Herrera will be a Manchester United player this summer. Some outlets going as far as claiming that the signing will be announced as early as today. Spanish News paper AS’s website report that Manchester United have decided to meet Ander Herrera’s release clause of €36m. The paper’s website also go on to claim that Ander Herrera has already agreed personal terms with United. AS claim that United are looking to conclude the deal before 1st July before Ander Herrera’s release clause rises to €40m. Marca are also running the story and they claim that the deal could be made official as early as Today.
Do you think Herrera is a good enough signing for Manchester United? and if these claims by Spanish outlets are to be true would you be surprised if Manchester United end up paying €40m for Herrera instead of €36m?
