Former Manchester United manager David Moyes has revealed that he was charting out a deal for FC Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos to come to Old Trafford.
David Moyes, who was sacked as the Manchester United manager even before the completion of the season, has recently disclosed that he was working on a deal to bring German midfield maestro Toni Kroos to Old Trafford.
The 24-year-old German has been linked with a move to Old Trafford even after David Moyes’ talked about sacking. The Scot was also seen scouting the Bayern star quite a few times but now, the interest is fading under Louis van Gaal after ruling out making a move for the midfielder, despite various rumours in the English press that a £20million deal had already been agreed.
Moyes, who was sacked just after 11 months at the helm, revealed that he’s a keen admirer of the Bayern Munich playmaker.
Writing in a recent World Cup supplement, David Moyes said:
“It is no secret that I had put a lot of groundwork into signing [Kroos] for Manchester United,
“What I like about Kroos is that he plays the ball to penetrate, he doesn’t do passing for passing’s sake.”
The former Manchester United, Everton and Preston gaffer also admitted that he would have tried to resign Juventus starlet Paul Pogba, if a deal was possible.he added:
“If it were possible, I would have tried to bring him back to Manchester United
“He has flourished in Serie A since joining Juve at the age of 19 but that has been no surprise to those who worked with him at Old Trafford.”
This clearly indicates how desperate David Moyes was in attempting to rebuild a languishing Manchester United squad after the Red Devils endured a torrid season under him.
With Toni Kroos now destined to move to Real Madrid this summer, we will more than likely have to wait until after the World Cup to see who Manchester United can bring in to improve the squad.
