David Moyes admits it is going to be a long journey at United
Manchester United manager David Moyes has explained that it is “long journey” at Old Trafford and that this season is only the start of it.
As Moyes addressed the media in his weekly press conference at Carrington on Friday afternoon, he was looking ahead to this weekends early kick-off against Aston Villa at Old Trafford and also Tuesday’s Champions League quarter-final against FC Bayern Munich. Speaking on how the players will react to losing 3-0 to Manchester City, Moyes said:
“The players know exactly what it is to play for Manchester United and the standards they have to set
“But they’re hurting as well as me and are desperate to put it right. And hopefully when we get to the game against Villa, they can show that.
As Manchester United currently sit in 7th place in the English Premier League, being knocked out of all the cups apart from the Champions League and performances on the pitch not getting any better, David Moyes stated that it is a long journey & that he wants to change the position the club is in now. The manager added:
“It’s a long journey here and this is only the start of it, you work hard to get here in the first place but I’ve got to say I’m more driven to succeed than ever because I want the team to turn around and I want to change the position we’re in just now.
“I really do believe we can do that. We’ve got a great club, which gives you the chance to do that because of the people we can attract and the players we can attract to the club. But it’s just going to take a little bit of time to get it sorted.”
