Manchester United manager David Moyes has spoken out after he watched his side beat Olympiacos 3-0 at Old Trafford, sending his club through to the next round, stating that he feels that they could go all the way and win the UEFA Champions League.
Robin van Persie fired home a hat-trick to send Manchester United into Friday’s quarter-final draw over in Lyon, with all the European big names going into the hat including potential glamour ties against FC Barcelona or Real Madrid – But the Red Devils manager believes that the club could go all the way to lift the trophy.
When asked by reporters in his post match press conference, Moyes said:
“I hope so”
“We will probably go into the quarter-final tie as underdogs but I don’t see why not.
“This football club is capable of it. If we play to our capabilities, which we’ve not shown that often this season, I think we can be a match for any team.
“This club has history in the competition. It knows what to do at this stage. We’re not shocked to be in the quarter-finals – it’s something we do regularly. We will try to get into the last four now.”
We will be waiting to see who Manchester United are drawn against on Friday morning, 11am GMT over in Lyon.
