It has been confirmed this morning that Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic will be leaving the club at the end of the 2013/14 season, to join up with Italian outfit Inter Milan.
The news broke earlier in the year, as David Moyes and Vidic himself came to a mutual agreement that the long serving defender and captain would move on for a new challenge at the end of the season.
Today, Inter Milan confirmed the official news in a statement on their website and social media.
Erick Thohir, Inter Milan’s president, confirmed the deal and was delight at the signing of Nemanja Vidic:
“Vidic is a world-class player
“I’m extremely happy to have completed this deal to bring Nemanja to Milan. He’s one of the world’s best defenders and his qualities, international pedigree and charisma will be an asset to the team and help bring through our younger players.
“He will bring added value to the club and is another piece of the great Inter side we are building. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Manchester United, Nemanja and his entourage for the professional and cooperative approach they have shown throughout the negotiations.”
Nemanja Vidic has been a great servant to Manchester United, the club and fans all wish him best with the rest of his footballing career.
