According to wide spread media reports, Manchester United have received some encouraging news regarding Real Madrid centre-half Raphael Varane.
The Guardian stated that the Red Devils could be handed as much as £100m to splash on reinforcing their backline in the New Year, with the France international defender named as a player targeted by both the side and Jose Mourinho.
As per a more recent claim by Don Balon, La Liga giant Real Madrid were ready to sell the World Cup winner for about £62million.
That’s a reasonable price for a centre-half of his class, calibre and experience, with the defender playing a key role in his side’s four UEFA Champions League successes in the last five seasons, whilst also representing France as they lifted the FIFA World Cup this summer in Russia.
The latest from top publication Don Balon is that Serie A champions Juventus are also likely ready to join the race for the 25-year-old central defender, with encouragement from former colleague Cristiano Ronaldo.
Still, the recent report claims Real Madrid could let the Frenchman go now for about £52million, with the defender’s value tumbling rapidly!
Manchester United would do pretty well to act fast on this and pay the valued price of the defender to significantly reinforce what has been a major problematic position for the Premier League side this term.
Rafael Varane would be a major and important upgrade on manchester United players like Eric Bailly, Chris Smalling, Marcos Rojo, and Phil Jones and it’s not very often players of his class are available for just £52million in todays transfer market.
