3-4-1-2: Man Utd predicted XI to face Man City

Manchester United return from Germany for the derby on Saturday evening hoping to avoid back-to-back defeats.

It will be interesting to see how we rebound from our Champions League exit and with talk of Mauricio Pochettino in the news and all over social media this week, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can ill afford defeat.

We did the double over our local rivals last season, including a 2-0 win at Old Trafford in March.

Here is the team I think we’ll send out versus Manchester City:

Goalkeeper: David de Gea
The Spaniard can take some of the blame for the third goal on Tuesday night but he won’t be dropped for this game.

Defence: Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw
Ole went with a back three in doing the double over City last season so I am expecting it this weekend too. Luke Shaw is back to take up his place on the left side, whilst Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof are almost certain to start.

Midfield: Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Scott McTominay, Fred, Alex Telles
Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Alex Telles will start in the wingback roles if we go with the 3-4-1-2 formation. Fred hasn’t played since his sending off versus Paris Saint-Germain and I think he’ll get the no over Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba and Donny van de Beek to partner Scott McTominay in the middle.

Attack: Bruno Fernandes; Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford
It’s looking unlikely that Anthony Martial will be fit to start this one so Mason Greenwood should partner Marcus Rashford in attack, supported by Bruno Fernandes in the number 10 role. It’s this attack versus a Manchester City defence that could include Kyle Walker and John Stones that I’ve read a lot of Manchester United vs Manchester City predictions in our favour this week.

Here is our team on paper:
