Manchester United returned from the international break by beating West Bromwich Albion 1-0 at Old Trafford on Saturday night.
It was an unconvincing performance from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, relying on a retaken penalty from Bruno Fernandes 10 minutes into the second half to pick up the three points.
Only minutes earlier had West Brom been awarded a penalty before VAR correctly overturned the decision as Bruno won the ball before Conor Gallagher went down inside our penalty area.
At the other end, Anthony Martial’s effort on goal was handled by Darnell Furling.
Bruno Fernandes’ initial kick was denied by former United youth, Sam Johnstone. However, the goalkeeper was a mile off his line before the ball had been kicked.
The referee correctly awarded a retake from which the Portuguese superstar duly converted.
Victory moves us up to ninth in the table prior to Sunday and Monday’s final fixtures of the weekend.
