Player ratings: LASK 0-5 Man Utd

Manchester United produced a dominating display as we ran out 5-0 winners away to LASK in the first leg of our Europa League Round of 16 tie in front of an empty stadium.

Odion Ighalo produced a sublime strike from 18 yards to give us the lead on 28 minutes after Juan Mata had missed a couple of good chances. LASK had barely touched the ball in our half at this point.

Daniel James ended his run of 32 games in all competitions without a goal with a fine solo effort of his own. The Welsh forward cut inside two defenders before firing into the bottom corner from just inside the penalty area. Juan Mata sealed the game in the final 10 minutes following an excellent through ball from Fred., before substitutes Mason Greenwood and Andreas Pereira both scored in stoppage time.

Here are my player ratings from LASK 0-5 Manchester United:

Sergio Romero 6 – The Argentine goalkeeper had nothing to do following a combination of good defending and poor finishing from the opposition.

Brandon Williams 8 – Very good defensive performance at right-back for a change. Brandon Williams also got forward to support our attacks.

Eric Bailly 8 – Another game, another clean sheet for Eric Bailly who is still yet to concede a goal this season. The centre-back made a couple of important interceptions and tackles.

Harry Maguire 8 – Calm at the back as we never looked like conceding.

Luke Shaw 8 – Remained disciplined after picking up an early yellow card. Linked up with our attack well down the left and never allows his opposite number to cause any problems for our defence.

Scott McTominay 8 – Solid performance in front of the back four, looking after the ball when in possession too.

Fred 9 – Sublime assist for our third. Fred constantly found space to receive possession and made useful forward passes to supply our attack.

Juan Mata 8 – Got himself in goalscoring positions on a number of occasions before a tidy finish one-on-one to make it 3-0 late on following a smart run off the ball.

Bruno Fernandes 9 – Another superb performance form the Portuguese superstar who played a number of cheeky passes and created several chances before being given a rest midway through the second half.

Odion Ighalo 9 – Another excellent finish from the striker who linked up well with our supporting midfielders, laid on the second goal for Daniel James and held the ball up well too.

Daniel James 7 – Nice goal to put us on our way to a comfortable victory. Not overly involved in the game otherwise.

Substitutes

Tahith Chong (21 mins) 7 – Had a couple of positive dribbles and provided a fine assist for our fourth.

Andreas Pereira (14 mins) N/A – Ambitious 35-yard attempt managed to catch Alexander Schlager out for our fifth.

Mason Greenwood (7 mins) N/A – A very late run out but enough time to get on the scoresheet with a fine, powerful strike in off the post following a fine through ball from Tahith Chong.
