Manchester United are back in Premier League action on Sunday afternoon against Everton at Goodison Park.
We’re coming off the back of a comfortable win over Club Brugge in the UEFA Europa League round of 32, whilst we will have a third successive match on Thursday when we travel to Derby County in the FA Cup next week.
Everton were in fine form prior to their defeat at Arsenal last weekend but have had the midweek off for extra rest and preparation.
Here is the team I think Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will name on Merseyside:
Goalkeeper: David de Gea
Rested yesterday as Sergio Romero is our cup goalkeeper. David de Gea should expect a busier game than what the Argentine had, with the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison and Bernard in attack for this weekend’s hosts.
Defence: Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw
It was good to see Eric Bailly get another start on Thursday night but I am not sure the Ivorian will be able to play two games in a couple of days. So the only change I am expecting in our back four on Sunday would be Victor Lindelof’s inclusion. It was a surprise not to see either Brandon Williams or Diogo Dalot start versus Club Brugge but perhaps they will feature at Derby next week instead.
Midfield: Nemanja Matic, Fred; Mason Greenwood, Bruno Fernandes, Daniel James
Nemanja Matic should return to the starting lineup after Scott McTominay started in his place in the Europa League. The Serbian has formed a good partnership with Fred, who is coming off the back of scoring a brace. Mason Greenwood or Jesse Lingard should start down the right wing in place of Juan Mata, with Bruno Fernandes retaining his influential number 10 role. Daniel James’s pace down the left should cause Everton problems with Djibril Sidibe liking to bomb forward from right-back.
Striker: Odion Ighalo
Anthony Martial missed out on Thursday and remains a doubt for this weekend’s game with a thigh injury. Therefore there’s a good chance Odion Ighalo will continue to start up front.
Here is our team on paper:
