Manchester United’s three-game away winning run came to a disappointing
Here are my player ratings:
David de Gea 6 – Not given a chance with Josh King’s goal on the stroke of half-time. Made a good save to deny Harry Wilson a second late on.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka 6 – Didn’t get close to Josh King and failed to prevent the striker opening the score despite taking his time and juggling the ball inside the six-yard box. Though he shouldn’t have been in the centre-back position in the first place. Otherwise, Aaron Wan-Bissaka defended quite well up against Ryan Fraser down the wing.
Victor Lindelof 6 – Made a couple of important interceptions and headed clearances but we looked very open at the back at times. Poor in the air once again as Joshua King was able to flick on and nod down a number of long balls into his path.
Harry Maguire 5 – Positioning was poor on a number of occasions as we looked vulnerable at the back for long periods.
Ashley Young 5 – Surprise start ahead of Brandon Williams and it wasn’t justified as Ashley Young offered nothing going forward and got caught out at the back a few times too today.
Scott McTominay 6 – Did a good job defensively but was wasteful in possession. Scott McTominay also lacked creativity in the middle of the park that we were missing.
Fred 6 – Useful in possession without being spectacular. His long-range efforts were all tame though. Fred picked up a yellow card in the first half when getting in a scuffle with Jefferson Lerma.
Daniel James 6 – Was a promising threat down the right wing in the opening 15 minutes but was very quiet afterwards.
Andreas Pereira 5 – Air shot from 16 yards out following a Daniel James cutback early on. Tested Aaron Ramsdale with a long-range shot just before the hour. Didn’t get on the ball much and created very little in the number 10 role.
Marcus Rashford 6 – Some nice first touches but never a threat on the Bournemouth goal. His pace was never a weapon in the match, mostly because the home side’s defence sat very deep.
Anthony Martial 6 – Looked promising early on for Anthony Martial but found himself isolated for much of the remainder of the game.
Jesse Lingard (23 mins) 6 – Offered some energy as we finally showed some urgency in the final 15 minutes. Jesse Lingard picked out teammates in and around the penalty area without creating much.
Mason Greenwood (12 mins) N/A – Hit the post from close out but otherwise didn’t get involved in anything of note.
Brandon Williams (11 mins) N/A – Offered more width going forward than Ashley Young and should some good control.
