Manchester United travel to Southampton in the opening fixture of this weekend’s Premier League action as we look to rebound from our embarrassing defeat at home to Crystal Palace on Saturday. We kick off at 12:30 at St Mary’s on the south coast.
It has been confirmed that Luke Shaw will not face his former side. The left-back has been ruled out with a hamstring problem picked up in the first half last weekend. It means Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have to name a different starting back four for the first time this season. Ashley Young is expected to fill in for the England international. Diogo Dalot continues to be sidelined, whilst Eric Bailly and Timothy Fosu-Mensah are long-term absentees.
Anthony Martial was also injured in our defeat to Palace and will miss this weekend’s trip down south too. It will be interesting to see who the boss plays in the French forward’s place given that Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez have been loaned out to Inter Milan.
These injuries we the last thing we needed in a game we are almost desperate to win having picked up only four points from our first three points, given how badly we performed against one of the relegation favourites less than a week ago.
