Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson will be returning to Sheffield United on loan for another season after the goalkeeper put pen to paper over a new three-year deal at Old Trafford today.
The 22-year-old has been with us since 2011 and spent last season on loan at Bramall Lane where he was a key part of helping the Blades return to the Premier League.
Henderson was England’s first-choice goalkeeper at this summer’s European Under-21 Championships in Italy and San Marino.
The youngster was not part of the squad that has travelled for our pre-season tour as he was expected to be loaned back to Sheffield United.
Manchester United confirmed this afternoon that Dean Henderson had put to pen to paper over a new three-year deal with the option of extending for a further year. With David de Gea set to stay for at least another season the England under-21 international would not have expected to see much, if any, playing time at Old Trafford this season.
Instead, the goalkeeper will have an opportunity to prove himself in the Premier League whilst out on loan. This could be a perfect opportunity for Henderson to prove himself in the top flight ahead of becoming our future number one.
