According to reports emanating from Spain, Premier League side Manchester United have been handed a huge transfer boost in any chase of Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho.
Spanish outlet SPORT in a report suggest that Blaugrana boss Ernesto Valverde has ‘lost’ hope of turning the creative midfielder’s fortunes around at the Catalan club, casting doubt over the players long-term future.
The former player of Merseyside giants Liverpool has been connected with a shock transfer to Old Trafford in the winter transfer market after failing to establish a permanent role in the senior-squad at his new football club.
And as per the latest claims, United have been handed new hope of a move for the South American following the manager’s latest appraisal of his Barcelona situation.
It is thought that the FC Barcelona manager no longer feels the player can perform pretty well in a midfield three system and has since dropped down the pecking order to be deployed on the left flank.
The Spanish side have already agreed to sign Dutch international midfielder Frenkie de Jong later in the summer window, and it is now believed he will fill the midfield position Coutinho was originally signed to occupy.
In other news, Manchester United interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that youngster Andreas Pereira will not depart Old Trafford before the conclusion of the window.
The starlet’s Old Trafford future looked to be highly uncertain after being connected with transfers to Premier League sides including Everton, Arsenal, and West Ham United.
Pereira has only started one of Solskjaer’s ten matches in charge and was not featured in the 3-1 win over North London giant Arsenal.
