The 2018 World Cup is over and France are the champions. Paul Pogba was sensational for Les Bleus throughout the competition and us Manchester United supporters are hoping that he can carry that form into the new Premier League campaign. If so, the Red Devils could be destined to lift the English title for the first time since 2013.
However, as shown last season, Pogba cannot do it all on his own, and even Jose Mourinho will be looking to strengthen his squad in the transfer window. We have already acquired Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk but are still in dire need of support out wide. With that in mind, Croatia international Ivan Perisic could be worth considering.
Mourinho tried to sign Perisic after taking the Old Trafford job a couple of years ago but a move failed to materialise. The Croatia star was simply sublime this summer, scoring in both the semi-final and final; proving that he is indeed capable of shining on the biggest stage of all. United fans would certainly back a move for Perisic based on his exploits over the last month.
The 29-year-old scored three goals whilst recording one assist in seven games for Croatia this summer – an excellent return in 632 minutes of international football. He was a key figure throughout the competition and helped extend an Internazionale record of having at least one representative involved in a World Cup final since 1982.
Ivan Perisic’s stock has never been higher and some United fans will have second thoughts on whether the Red Devils should sign the Croatian or not. At 29 years old, he may struggle to maintain his current form for too much longer and Mourinho may look for a younger name to bolster his Old Trafford midfield unit instead.
However, there’s nothing quite like big game experience and Perisic is a seasoned veteran when it comes to playing at the top level. The Red Devils have the necessary funds to move for the attacker and paying his wages won’t be an issue. Mourinho may not be given a blank chequebook but United can comfortably spend £200 million with no major repercussions.

At the time of writing, the Red Devils are priced at 13/2 to lift the Premier League title in bet365’s football betting odds. Perisic would give us a different option in attack and he could be the ultimate difference maker in the title race. Overturning the gap to Manchester City could be difficult but we must do everything in our power to take control of England’s top flight once again.
Ivan Perisic is a supreme talent and Jose Mourinho should push to acquire the Inter Milan star before the end of the transfer window. Manchester United will be expecting to compete on multiple fronts in 2018-19 and bolstering the squad is an absolute must. Watch this space, Perisic could be a superstar in less than a year if his move to Old Trafford goes through this time…
