Manchester United have officially completed the transfer of Armenia international attacking midfielder/winger Herikh Mkhitaryan to Arsenal.
This was made known by the club official website, which reveals Alexis Sanchez has signed for United with Mkhitaryan heading to Arsenal in a swap deal.
The 28-year old star joined the Red Devils in 2016 summer but failed to gain a regular play time under Jose Mourinho.
However, the former Borussia Dortmund winger played a key role in United team that won the UEFA Europa last season, scoring the second goal in the 2-0 win over Ajax.
He also helped the Manchester club to win both the EPL Cup and the Community Shield title.
Mourinho however wishes his former player the best in his new challenged when he said:
“I would like to wish Henrikh all the success and happiness that I am sure he is going to get. He is a player that we will not forget, especially for his contribution to our Europa League victory.”
The Armenia star reveals his move to the Emirate stadium as a ‘dream comes true’ after weeks of being sideline in United team.
“It’s a dream come true because I’av always dreamed of playing for Arsenal. Now that I’m here, I’ll do my best for this club to create history”
“I always love the way that Arsenal played and the way that Arsene Wenger has managed the team. There have been a lot of young players, he’s managed them and they’av done very well.”
“Of course I was in love with the game of Thierry Henry. I loved the way he played – and maybe that was the reason to support Arsenal.”
The talented star could make his first debut for the Gunners this Wednesday as his new club takes on Chelsea in the EFL match.
