Arsena’s forward Alexis Sanchesz future at Emirate stadium seems to be coming to an end after Arsene Wenger reveals a switch to Old Trafford is imminent.
The Chile international was close to joining Manchester City last summer but it all seems United have now won the race for his signature.
Daily Star claims that the sensational goal poacher has agreed a personal term with the Red Devils, which could see him becoming the highest paid player in the Premier League.
Asked if the former Barcelona forward move to Old Trafford was close, Wenger said:
“I’ve worked on transfers for 30 years, so it is likely to happen.
“But at any moment, at any minute, things can break down. That’s how the transfer market is. As long as it’s not over the line, you have to accept that it can as well not happen. These kind of things are never guaranteed.”
It is reported that out of favour Armenia international Henrikh Mkhitary could be a direct swap for Sanchez service.
The former Dormund winger has been a bit player for Jose Mourinho’s team this season and a move to Emirate stadium could guarantee him regular play time.
The French tactician also confirms Mkhitaryan will be a direct swap deal for Sanchez.
“If it’s a possibility, it’s because I like the player,” Wenger said after confirming Mkhitaryan would move the other way in exchange for Sanchez.
“We played many times against him when he was at Dortmund. He certainly appreciated the quality of our game and the way we play football. That’s why certainly he loves the club as well.
“Look, this would be an exchange of players, and I think one would replace the other. Are we still on the transfer market after that? Yes.”
Sanchez huge talent and movement on and off the ball would provide additional spark to United attack.
The South American is quite good on both feet. Good positional play inside the six yard box and excellent work rate.
