Young and exciting Real Madrid attacking midfielder Marco Asensio has emerged as a prime target for Jose Mourinho as he seeks to strengthen his squad.
Don Balon as reported by The Express claims Mourinho has enlisted the 21-year old star in his wish list and would tender a mega offer for his services in January.
Mourinho was initially interested in Gareth Bale services having chased him last summer but report has it now that he has turned his attention to Asensio.
Bale persistent injury woe has put the Portuguese tactician off, and wants the Spaniard instead.
Asensio has caved a name for himself at Santiago Bernabeu, having found the back of the net seven times in all competition this term.
However, the youngster is finding it hard to get regular play time at Los Blancos. He is currently behind Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Isco in Zinedine Zidane ranking.
Asensio would prefer playing regularly in order to stake a claim for a place in Russia 2018 and could seek a move to club where he would be played regularly.
Old Trafford might be a good alternative for the highly rated midfielder but Madrid wouldn’t want to let their most promising youngster leaves half way through the season.
The 21-year old is under contract until 2020 and has a buyout clause of an estimated €500m (£442m).
