As reported by the Metro, Henrikh Mkhitaryan is in contention to feature for Manchester United during their clash against Arsenal on Saturday.
Many felt that Manchester United were able to pull off a huge coup after securing the services of Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Borussia Dortmund this summer and understandably so.
Mkhitaryan had enjoyed a stunning campaign last term, scoring 23 goals as well as providing 32 assists in 52 appearances in all competitions for Dortmund and given his exploits, there was no reason to think why the attacker would not be successful at United as well.
Unfortunately though, Mkhitaryan has not enjoyed much success at Old Trafford so far and having failed to impress manager Jose Mourinho, the 27-year-old has been limited to only 133 minutes of action all season long.
A host of injury problems have most certainly not helped Mkhitaryan’s cause and the attacker last featured for United back in November 3 as a substitute during the Europa League clash against Fenerbahce.
Mkhitaryan was completely left out of the United squad for the encounter with Swansea City ahead of the international break but as a huge boost, the Armenian international is now in contention to feature during the blockbuster clash against Arsenal at Old Trafford this weekend.
As reported by the Metro, Mkhitaryan was pictured training with the Manchester United first team squad and the attacking midfielder is expected to be named in the 18-man squad for Saturday’s game.
While Mkhitaryan has clearly not enjoyed the best of times at United so far, there is no doubting the fact that he can turn into a match winner on his day and Mourinho could well view the former Shakhtar Donetsk star as a useful option from the bench against Arsenal.
