Manchester United are reportedly interested in making a move to sign Real Madrid midfielder Isco in the January transfer window.
Mourinho is said to see Isco as his primary transfer target and could be set to make an official move for the player in the coming months.
Isco has yet to be offered a new deal at the Bernabeu and whilst his preference is to remain in the Spanish capital it is understood that Madrid would be willing to sell the midfielder should they receive a substantial offer for the player.
Speaking to Spanish publication Marca as reported by daily mirror the midfielder reiterated his desire to remain with the European champions but admitted that he does not yet know if he will be offered a new deal to stay at the club.
With Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema all ahead of the Spaniard in the pecking order at the Bernabeu he will no doubt found game time hard to come by and in moving to Manchester United it would provide Isco the perfect chance to play regular first team football.
Upon his arrival to the club Mourinho stated that he needed specialists in key areas across the pitch in order to take Manchester United back to the top and in signing Isco he would be getting just that. The Spaniards ability to pick out an inch perfect pass combined with his excellent reading of the game makes him one of the finest midfielders in European football and is a player that would undoubtedly strengthen his attacking options at Old Trafford.
At just twenty four years of age Isco is a player who is about to enter his peak years as footballer. Mourinho wouldn’t be buying a player for the future nor a player whose best days are long behind him, he would be bringing a player to the club who deliver the goods in the here and now and that is what the Portuguese so desperately needs if he is to be successful at United.
