Jose Mourinho has insisted that Ander Herrera’s outstanding form for Manchester United this season is due to a strong relationship he has between himself and the player.

Herrera has been in superb form of late for United playing in the central defensive midfielder role and was recently named man of the match in the clubs 0-0 draw with Liverpool at Anfield on Monday night.
The Spaniard’s excellent form for Manchester United even earned the midfielder a call up to the national team earlier this month.
Speaking in his post-match new conference Mourinho stated that he has formed a close relationship with the midfielder and that he is performing better under him as a result.
For a player who in the summer looked as though he was on his way out of the club Herrera’s turn around in fortune at Old Trafford has been nothing short of incredible.
Having been in and out of the team under former head coach Louis Van Gaal last season the Spaniard has found himself a more consistent figure in and amongst the United starting eleven under Mourinho this time around. His ability to move the ball on quickly up the pitch combined with his terrific work rate makes him a real asset for Mourinho and is one which he will no doubt continue to use as the season progresses.
Having Herrera in the side not only benefits Paul Pogba but benefits the entire Manchester United side. When in the heart of midfield United’s play is much faster the ball is moved far more quickly up the pitch were United’s forwards can then do the damage.
With Chelsea next up on the agenda in the premier league for the Red Devils it will arguably prove to be Jose Mourinho’s toughest test he has faced so far as the new United boss but should the Portuguese choose to name Herrera in the starting eleven he alone could prove to be the difference in United leaving Stamford bridge with all three points.
