Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is confident of having a fully fit squad to choose from ahead of Sundays encounter with Stoke City at Old Trafford according to IBtimes.
Duo Luke Shaw and Henrikh Mkhitaryan missed United’s 1-0 victory over Zorya Luhansk on Thursday night through injury but both are set to return against the Potters giving the Portuguese virtually a full strength squad to pick from.
Speaking after the game against Zorya Luhansk Mourinho confirmed that nearly every player in the squad is available for the Stoke clash but did state that defender Phil Jones will remain out of action having suffered a set- back in training earlier this week.
United go into the game on the back of three successive victories and Mourinho will no doubt be hoping that his side can claim all three points against Stoke City before the international break.
The Red Devils currently sit six points off leaders Manchester City at the top of the premier league table but with United playing before City on the Sunday it gives the club a chance to close the gap on the leaders to just three points and with Liverpool and Chelsea to come after the international break, winning the Stoke City clash even more important for United.
Stoke have endured a difficult start to the new campaign having lost four of their opening six league games but despite the poor start they still possess a major threat to Mourinho’s men and should United switch off against the potters they have players in Bojan Krkic, Xherdan Shaqiri and Marko Arnautovic who can make them pay.
With Mark Hughes likely to set up his Stoke side in a more defensive formation on Sunday it is essential that United are quick out of the blocks on Sunday. An early goal from United will force the potters out and leave more space available further up the pitch for the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and co to do the damage.
It is undoubtedly a must win game for the club and is a game that Mourinho simply must win if he is to make Manchester United serious contenders for the premier league title this season.
