Valencia are reportedly eyeing up a move for Manchester United centre-back Marcus Rojo.
The Argentine has yet to start a game thus far for Mourinho and with the la liga club set to lose Shkodran Mustafi to Arsenal in the next few days a move for Rojo could be imminent.
United are said to value Rojo at approximately ten million pounds and would be willing to sell the centre-back should any club meet their valuation for the player.
Spanish publication Deporte Valenciano report that Valencia owner Peter Lim has a positive relationship with Manchester United due to him being business partners with members the class of 92 and is said to remain hopeful that the club can get a deal done for Rojo before the transfer window slams shut.
The 26-year-old has drastically fell down the pecking order at Old Trafford in recent months and with new club signing Eric Bailly impressing early on the chances of Rojo playing on a consistent basis for the Portuguese would appear limited.
Rojo joined the club two years ago under former united head coach Louis Van Gaal. Despite impressing at the 2014 World Cup for his national side Argentina, Rojo has since failed to live up to expectations at Old Trafford.
Having been brought in to solve Manchester United’s defensive woes, the defender has looked anything but the man to do that. His poor decision making combined with his lack of concentration at vital moments have moved Rojo out of the clubs starting eleven and onto the substitute’s bench.
With Daley Blind, Eric Bailly, Chris Smalling, Fosu-Mensah and Phil Jones all ahead on the Argentinian in Mourinho’s pecking order, a move away would seem the best solution at this moment in time. United will not hold of keep a player on the books who earns in excess of a reported £100,000 per week, whilst for Rojo he will want regular first team football.
In the two years Rojo has played at the theatre of dreams, the centre-back hasn’t shown that quality and ability needed to become a Manchester United centre-half. Time and time again he has been handed opportunities to impress and on each occasion the Argentine has failed. There are only so many chances you get given at Old Trafford and when it comes to Marcus Rojo he has already had one chance to many.
A move to Valencia could be just what Marcus Rojo is looking for at this stage of his footballing career. He will undoubtedly get more first team opportunities at the Mestalla whilst have the chance to challenge himself up against the very best in Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
It’s a move that would suit both parties and for Rojo a move which could kick start his football career once more.
