Luke Shaw on cancelled derby: “We’re all disappointed, too”

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has spoken of his disappointment that today’s Manchester derby with City in Beijing has been cancelled, and addressed the Chinese fans missing out on a chance to watch their team.

In a short video posted on United’s Twitter account, Shaw had this to say: “I know that you’re all disappointed, but as players we’re all disappointed, too. We’ve come out here to play in front of all of you fans, because we know how much you love us all. We love playing in front of you. Hopefully, we’ll see you all soon.”

The match, scheduled to take place at 12:30 BST at Beijing’s Bird’s Nest stadium was called off this morning due to adverse weather conditions during the last week which had left the pitch in poor condition. United will fly back to Manchester this evening and prepare to face Galatasaray in Sweden this coming Saturday.
